Apicoectomy

In certain cases, a small surgical procedure called an apicoectomy may be necessary to remove the infected tip of a tooth’s root and the surrounding inflamed tissue.

An apicoectomy is a procedure often performed when a root canal or root canal retreatment alone is not sufficient to heal the tooth. During the procedure, the area around the root tip is carefully cleaned, the infected tissue is removed, and the end of the root is sealed with a biocompatible material to promote proper healing and prevent further infection.

This treatment helps preserve at-risk teeth and prevents the need for extraction or more serious complications.
